Center Proposal

In the making for over a year, a document has finally been completed for the proposal of a new on-campus LGBTQ Center. All of the details are outlined in the attached file, but following is an excerpt, outlining the mission of the proposal.

Our mission is to establish an LGBTQ Center on the ASU Tempe campus where all the purposes and organizations of the Coalition could be rooted and cultivated under the leadership of a dedicated staff member. The LGBTQ Center will affirm the worth of every one of ASU's students, faculty, and staff, not in spite of their differences, but because of them.

All programming at Arizona State University for the LGBTQ community is currently balanced on the backs of students involved in the LGBTQ Coalition. Under the leadership of a dedicated, paid LGBTQ Center Coordinator, the LGBTQ Coalition could stabilize and expand our influence and engage the ASU community on more deep and meaningful levels.

The LGBTQ Coalition remembers ourselves as part of the ASU community: a community that must hurt when we hurt, and celebrate when we celebrate. We are a unique part of this diverse whole. We are obligated to ourselves, our university, our peers, and the future members of Arizona State University to establish the LGBTQ Center.
